Study finds office plants die faster when named after middle managers
The authors cannot say whether the plants knew. They can say the watering logs.

A small study in Utrecht labelled identical plants with either a botanical name, a given name, or the first name of a department manager, then tracked soil moisture and leaf loss. Plants in the manager condition were drier. People watered them less. The plants were not told.
